ABOUT EL GATO

El
Gato is a purebred white Spanish Arabian dancing horse. He
was born in 1999 and was taught to dance by Indalecio Macedo (Jr.).
The Macedo family is well reknowned for being the top dancing horse trainers
in the world. The family has won many awards with their horses.

Kelly was introduced to El Gato in August 2009 for the first time when she went to hire the Macedos to perform at an Arabian Horse Show event that she managed. She had gone to see some of Indalecio's Friesian and Quarter Horse dancing horses perform before the show. She spotted the lone, white horse standing in his stall and it was then she was told that he was for sale. El Gato was 10 years old. One month later, he came to live with her.
Kelly went back the following spring to learn how to make Gato dance and do some of the other tricks that he can do. El Gato is one of the most talented and personable horses Kelly has ever owned. He does many tricks including the Spanish Dance which is a slightly modified version of the dressage 'piaffe' movement and the Spanish Walk which is a high marching step. He also does a floating/hovering movement that currently no other horse does. Indalecio says it's an incorrect version of the dressage 'passage' movement. Gato never quite learned the 'passage' the correct way and came up with this hovering movement himself. He also bows and will lay completely down on command while you're on top of him or while in hand as well as a number of other tricks.. Kelly is having so much fun with El Gato.
Gato knows so many things ..... he is simply amazing to meet. Here he is pictured above laying down on command.
